We want to give a HUGE shout out to our Roseville Culinary Academy campus, which recently received an Exemplary Program Award distinction from the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation’s Accrediting Commission. To qualify as an exemplary program, upon submitting their renewal application, a program will have zero areas of non-compliance from their most recent visit from ACFEF’s Accrediting Commission team’s visit. The Roseville Culinary Academy recently had a re-accreditation visit from ACFEF’s Accrediting Commission and received zero areas of concern during the visit to achieve this distinction.

What is Accreditation?
Vocabulary.com defines Accreditation as the act of granting credit or recognition, especially to an educational institution that maintains suitable standards.
The goal of accreditation is to ensure that education provided by institutions of higher education, like Dorsey Schools, meets or exceeds an acceptable level of quality. Dorsey Schools is proud to have achieved accreditation through the following:
Institutional Accreditation
Dorsey School of Beauty in Taylor is institutionally accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS). All other campus locations are institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
Programmatic Accreditation
The Culinary Arts program, available at the Roseville and Waterford-Pontiac campuses, is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation’s (ACFEF) Accrediting Commission.
The Medical Assisting program at the Roseville, Saginaw, Southgate, Wayne, Waterford-Pontiac, Farmington Hills, Lansing, and Madison Heights locations are programmatically accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
The Culinary Arts Program at Dorsey Schools
The Culinary Arts program at Dorsey Schools (available at the Roseville, MI and Waterford-Pontiac, MI campuses) offers enrolled students the opportunity to transform their passion for turning simple ingredients into delicious dishes into a new career. Training in the program takes place in both the classroom setting as well as in the on-campus kitchens at Dorsey Schools, equipped with industry-current equipment. Students will have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills and techniques in various culinary and cooking classes throughout the program. The Culinary Arts program explores a variety of topics throughout the training program, including sanitation, knife skills, mise en place, butchering, food preparation, various cooking techniques, baking, nutrition, healthy cooking menu planning, catering, and kitchen management.
While instruction is a critical element of the Dorsey Schools Culinary Arts program, the training is also designed to be very hands-on and model real world occupational settings that students may experience after they graduate from Dorsey. Part of this hands-on experience includes an externship that takes place during the last module of training when students will have the opportunity to take the knowledge and skills learned throughout the program and put it into practice in an actual occupational setting.
As previously noted, the Culinary Arts program at Dorsey Schools is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation’s (ACFEF) Accrediting Commission. Students of the Dorsey Schools Culinary Arts training program will have the opportunity to become active members of the American Culinary Federation (“ACF”) as a Student Culinarian, and ACF student members are eligible to receive an ACF designation of Certified Culinarian after graduation and completing one year of full time employment in the field.
