Dorsey Culinary Academy has teamed up with Rochester Community Schools to offer Individual Cooking Classes open to the public at the Dorsey Culinary Academy’s Waterford-Pontiac, MI campus. The series of individual cooking classes is called “Cook Like You Mean It” and it gives those interested in exploring their creativity in the kitchen the opportunity to do so with the expert chefs from Dorsey!
Individual Cooking Classes in Michigan
The series began on January 22nd with a “Perfect Pasta” class where attendees had a chance to learn how to make and roll their own pasta. In addition, attendees explored ragouts and other sauces that could be used for their pasta creations. Check out some of the pics from the pasta class throughout this blog post!
The series continued on February 12th with a “Brazilian Summer Feast” class. During this class, attendees had the opportunity to explore and prepare the various foods of the wonderfully exotic country of Brazil.
If you’ve missed these classes up to this point, don’t worry, you can join any of the future classes without a problem! We’ve included more info about each of the classes below. Attendees at each class will be provided with the following:
- A chef hat
- A “Cook Like You Mean It” t-shirt
- Recipes to take home!
These classes take place on campus at Dorsey Culinary Academy in Waterford-Pontiac, MI and Dorsey will supply the equipment and materials needed for the classes. Participants will prepare food in groups of up to four people.

March 18, 2016, Gluten Free Glutton: Learn how to create an assortment of gluten free dough and pastries. This is a comprehensive course that will include shopping tips to help you enjoy life without wheat.
June 24, 2016, Don’t Give Me Your Crepe…I’ll Make My Own: Learn how to make crepes and their many uses from the professionals at Dorsey Culinary Academy. During this class we will make our own crepes, both sweet & savory. We will also explore the art of reinvigorating leftovers with these tasty treats.
July 15, 2016, Jedi BBQ: So you think you can BBQ? Come hang out with the professionals at Dorsey Culinary Academy and share the excitement of BBQ food and how to make all the great accompaniments. During this class, we will go through the proper smoking procedures and how to make some easy/ killer side dishes.
August 5, 2016, Let’s Get Pickled and Jam: August is the start of the harvest. What the heck do we do with all the extra bounty that we have grown over the summer? Thank goodness for the age old techniques of preservation to keep our harvest yielding beautiful results all year long.
