Radiologic Technologist
A Radiologic Technologist is a healthcare professional that administers ionizing radiation for medical diagnostic imaging purposes. Radiologic Technologists prepare patients for x-rays, administer the scans ordered by a physician, and are responsible for ensuring safety and quality throughout the process. Due to the specialized skills a Rad Tech performs, formalized training is required to pursue this career path.
Aspiring Radiologic Technologists may be exposed to a variety of different topics as part of their training program. Some of these may include an introduction to radiography technology with an emphasis on safety and patient care, radiographic pathology and physics, image analysis and quality management in imaging, radiographic procedures coupled with clinical training, and preparation for the ARRT exam.
